The Science and Soul of Somatic Healing

What if healing isn’t something you force into being—
but something you remember,
because someone else held it with you first?

Heart Resonance

The human heart isn’t just a pump—it’s an orchestra of individual cells that each have the potential to initiate a beat. While its steady rhythm sustains your body it is also influenced by your body, your thoughts, and your emotions.

The heart emits the strongest electromagnetic field in the body, radiating in every direction.
When we’re calm, the rhythm is smooth, coherent. When we’re stressed, it scatters like static.
Think about when you’re near someone you love and there seems to be energy in the air or the constriction of grief folding in around you. That is this electromagnetic field radiating from you and it’s strongest at the heart.

Now here’s the miracle:
our hearts don’t just speak to us.
They influence the rhythms of those around us.
That’s why sitting with someone who feels grounded can make you breathe easier—
even without a word.

Mirror Neurons

Our brains were wired for belonging. It is a part of our biological and communal structure and systems. It is the instinct to seek out and belong within a group for safety and protection and is a very primal part of who we are as humans. And biology can explain how these interactions can affect our thoughts, perceptions, and emotional states. Say hi to mirror neurons.

Mirror neurons not only fire when we act, but when we witness someone else doing it.
It’s empathy at a cellular level.

Watch someone sigh in relief, and feel your own body loosen. See someone shake with grief, and your chest constricts too. You’ve experienced this countless times in your life. Think about the last time you watched a show or movie. You likely got an adrenaline rush and felt anxious during a chase scene or maybe cried at something a character experienced.

This is how nervous systems talk to each other—through presence, pacing, breath. It’s how we help balance and regulate each other and create a shared sense of safety.
Regulation is contagious.

Quantum Entanglement

Einstein called it “spooky action at a distance.” - I don’t know how you could NOT love that name. Two particles once connected will always respond to each other—across galaxies, across time. It’s pretty romantic if you think about it.

Humans know this too.
A mother who senses her child in danger miles away.
A prayer answered in the quiet of another’s night.
Feeling safe across a screen as a family member, friend, or loved one comforted you- because they were rooted in their body.
This is the threshold of science and magic and we are all brimming with it.

The Thread That Weaves Them Together

Heart resonance is the field.
Mirror neurons are the mechanism.
Quantum entanglement is the mystery.

Together, they remind us:
healing is not solo.
It’s not performance.
It’s not another checklist.

It’s relational.
It’s energetic.
It’s sacred.

When I sit with a client—whether in person, online, or even through a guided practice—
I’m not just giving tools.
I’m lending my regulation, my resonance, my remembrance, until their system recalls how to hold itself again.

This is why presence matters more than perfection.
This is why “you’re not broken” is more than a mantra or an affirmation to say to yourself through gritted teeth.
This is why you can feel seen, safe, and softened before you’ve even said a word.

Because your body already knows: we heal in the field of one another.
